Stockton– The Stockton Cargo Soccer Club opened up their 2025 USL W League account with a statement 3-1 victory over 2024 W League Play-Off participant Oakland Soul SC before 750 fans on a chilly Saturday Evening at Knoles Field on the University of the Pacific.
Hannah Diaz, the Cargo’s returning leading scorer, opened up the scoring in the 33rd minute of play with her first goal of the season to give the Cargo a 1-0 lead going into half time. The Soul evened things up at 1-1 with a goal from Arianna Veland early in the 2nd half, before Sam Tristan gave the Cargo the lead for good with a goal to put the Cargo ahead 2-1. Current University of the Pacific player Taylor Curtis salted the game away for the Cargo with a goal in the 87th minute. To make the final tally 3-1 Stockton. Cargo Goalie Amanda Leal, a Delta College product, recorded 2 saves in front of a stout Cargo Defense.
