Haley Bostard and Sam Tristan Score to Keep Stockton Undefeated
Stockton– The Stockton Cargo Soccer Club swept their season series with the Oakland Soul with a 2-1 victory, behind goals by Haley Bostard and Sam Tristan on Saturday. The win was a historic one, as Saturday’s match marked the first ever women’s sporting event in Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum history. The win keeps Stockton undefeated on the season with a 4-0-2 record and 14 points on the season, placing them 2nd in the NorCal Division, called by many the toughest Division in the USL W League, only 2 points behind San Juan SC.
The Cargo struck first in the First Half, as in the 29th Minute Haley Bostard scored off a perfectly placed Corner Kick by Hannah Diaz. The Half ended with the Cargo up 1-0. The Oakland Soul evened things up quickly in the Second Half, in the 54th minute, Sam Tran slotted away a loose ball in the box, for her 4th goal of the season, to tie things up a 1 a piece. The tie wouldn’t last long however, as in the 57th minute, the Cargo’s’ Sam Tristan intercepted an errant pass by the Oakland Defense, and made them pay for their mistake, giving the Cargo a 2-1 lead they would hold on to until the final whistle.
Cargo Goalie Amanda Leal recorded several key saves throughout the match and kept up her 1 goal per game average.
