Goal in the final minute of play give the Cargo the 1-0 Victory, and sole possession of first place
Davis- Stockton Cargo SC were up to their usual late minute theatrics, as a goal in the final minute of play by Jamia Fields gave the Cargo a thrilling 1-0 victory on the road over the California Storm, the 2024 USL W League NorCal Division Champions. With the win, the Cargo move into sole possession of 1st Place with23 points and a 7-0-3 record, 2 points ahead of 2nd Place San Juan SC.
A mostly defensive First Half saw each time have a handful of chances, as the Storm had a couple close calls before the end of the half, resulting in a 0-0 half time score.
As the 2nd half wore on, the Cargo weathered the onslaught of the Storm offensive attach, as a stout Cargo Defense led by Haley Bostard and Goalkeeper Amanda Leal kept a clean sheet. With time winding down, in the 93rd and final minute of extra time, Hannah Diaz found Jamia Fields with a connecting pass deep in Storm territory. Fields hammered in the winning goal, her second consecutive give with the game winning goal, to give the Cargo their first ever victory over the California Storm, and sole possession of First Place in the USL W League NorCal Division with 3 games left to play in the season.
Jamia Fields earned the Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers Player of the Game designation with her second straight game of late game heroics.
